Help on a first purchase please!!!!!!!!!

I am looking at buying a 300tdi 110 hardtop tommorow. Its ex electric company, full history done 140,000 on a 97P. Is £3975 too much and should it be ok at this mileage? I am new to this and I want my first one to be a good memory. What should I be checking for as well please?

it will be fine at that mileage,no its about the right price depends on overall condition but being ex electric should be pretty good,genral things are oil leaks more expensive around the engine area,diffs leak but as they say if it dont leak oil it must be empty,check for water leaks at the right hand side of head just behind alternator if you see any water leaks could be water pump housing gasket or water pump gasket also check for blowing around inlet/exhaust manifold gasket also on right,most of these things are just some common faults not to expensive to repair as long as you can do it yourself do make sure cam belt has been changed due at 72k so might be due another 1 now if not already done so reduce price if you can if not been done, check all gears in high and low and try diff lock out,make sure you check all windows wind up and down and all eletrics work,pretty reliable an mostly unbreakable hope this helps
