Hi all
I hope someone can help with my problem. I have an 03 model TD5 with 48k on the clock, for no apparent reason everything on the instrument cluster has stopped working, no gauges and no warning lights at all. only thing that does light up is the srs airbag light on startup. I have spoken to a few "experts" who have told me that the ecu under the dash must have water ingress, checked and it is bone dry, checked the underbonnet ecu and fuse boxes as well, all are dry, checked earths under the dash and under carpets and they are all good and dry. Interestingly when i disconnected the earth relevant to the instruments all the cluster lights started flashing randomly. has anyone else had similar problems?? i am supposed to be going on holiday in it tomorrow but with no gauges i dont think it will happen now unless someone on here can point me in the right direction. Thank you for any help in advance

Well theres still no good news. Apparently it needs a new body control unit, only problem is that these are on backorder with landrover with no indication of when they will be back in stock. I have been told that there is a problem with these units and that until it is resolved there will be none for sale. Getting a family of five into a mitsubishi colt (our second car) is no fun i can tell you!!!

this happened to mine.. i am as yet to find out what is going on. My suspision was the fuel sender guage earthing and shorting the whole binacle, as the fuel guage is the one that's consistantly a problem.
however, i also put it down to water ingress as it cleared itself up.

I'm unsure whether its the BCU unit but the BCU does talk to the binacle using a computer/Data connection.

It all seems to be working at the moment, but the symptoms were... turn the key, all lights up, then once the engine starts the whole lot goes dead.

keep me posted as I am still in the dark about this one myself!

Thats interesting cos the only bit of mine that does do anything is the fuel gauge, it shows full tank all the time.
