Hi there,

For many years I have coveted the products of Solihull and cast an envious eye over friends' examples and reckon that now's the time to bite the bullet, to scratch the itch and and get one of my own.

Or at least do a bit of research first before plonking my own hard-earned funds down..

In a nutshell, I've come to a bit of a figurative crossroads where car ownership is concerned. I've generally always had 2nd-hand/newish fast family hatches (the last two being Skoda Octavia vRS) which have been great to own and have served myself and my family well.

But, with the need for a replacement fast approaching and the prospect of getting into a PCP contract not really appealing the old Spidey sense is tingling again and I find myself increasingly looking at late model P38 or earlier L322 Rangies as a viable prospect.

I'm under no llusions re pitfalls and running costs but am hopful that a bit of thorough research and careful hunting might help me track down a decent example that'll give me a good solid starting point.
The car wouldn't have to be a daily driver as I have use of the Missus' car for commuting but it'd still be getting used and not just left sat on the drive.

Hence, here I am - eager to learn more & to pick up any hints or tips from what I suspect will be a knowledgeable and passionate community of Land Rover converts.

I look forward to getting stuck in and thanks for having me. :)

Welcome to the forum.

Do yerself a favour and buy a Freelander instead. Same vehicle but half the size and cost. Still got the luxury and go anywhere ability but won't cost 3 quid to start. ;)
