Hello folks,

I'm trying to help my other half buy her first Defender so I've been doing as much research as I can. We have been looking for something in the region of £10k - £12k, TD5 Defender 90, in a green CSW trim (ideally not a conversion). A bonus would be if it were a single owner with all original paperwork.

Lo and behold, this morning such a thing popped up on Gumtree! It looks perfect to me, which makes me wonder... what's wrong with it?

This is the gumtree ad: https://www.gumtree.com/p/land-rove...nty-station-wagon-7-seater-no-vat-/1271505842

A bit of sleuthing shows me this is the company: http://www.perthcommercials.co.uk

There doesn't appear to be any rust. The interior looks like it should when it left the factory. I've done a VRM lookup and it all checks out. Is it just because it's in Scotland that it's cheaper than what I've been seeing down south?

I'm considering going to look at it. But before I do, I was wondering if anyone here might be able to spot anything suspicious. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Seems OK from the pictures. Its from right at the start of the model run and has high miles so the price is about right. Good, original TD5s seem to be around the £10-15 K mark these days. If I were shopping for a TD5 (which I'm not because I already have one) I might hold out for a post 2002 one, because some changes were made - a reprogrammable ECU, a better version of the engine and a better dashboard for example. But it looks like an OK early model. Well worth a visit, as they used to say on Blue Peter.
