Hello. Why am I here? When I got home from work the other day my son said "we should buy a Land Rover". I'm not entirely sure why I agreed with him, but it seemed like a good idea, and we now have a 1986 110 CSW on the drive. It's happened rather more quickly than I expected but based on my first evening's ownership it is a thoroughly enjoyable vehicle to drive.

This isn't my first post here. I've already popped in to the 110 forum to ask about rear door locks after realising that there weren't any. After an evening of poking holes and fiddling with bits of metal I have one rear door that locks (courtesy of a knob allegedly from a Cortina) and one that is permanently locked until I find the right combination of metal rods to connect the latch to its knob.

Welcome to LZ!

Will it be long before your son will be old enough to work on it himself? :D

And what engine does this beast have? Most have been re-engined by now, some more than once.

Thanks. This is the 3rd engine, as far as the previous owner knows. It's a 200 Tdi.

Older son is 14 and for his D of E bronze skill is learning to dismantle + rebuild an Austin 7 engine so he will soon be significantly more qualified than me to work on it himself. I'm quite good at taking things apart but less skilled when it comes to putting them back together. I was keen to get something with no electronics so I have some chance of learning how it works.

Welcome to landyzone festival of festering cheese stomping competition.
