Hello and please help

Hello, My names Chris I've got a 300tdi 90 and recently bought a new toy. I now need to beg for some help. Ive broke said toy in the first half an hour of ownership. It's a 1980's range rover based auto v8. I was giving it a little test and now it can't find any gears? Give me a manual diesel and i'm laughing, auto v8 and i'm not so clever. Please help!
