I had a strange fault today, when I got back home I put it in park and switched the handbrake on but although it did switch on it came up with park brake fault on the dash and when I tried to release the handbrake it would not switch off with the same warning light and sound. I tred to go forward and back but the car would not go. I turned off the ignition and found that I could switch on and off the handbrake at will, and the car drives OK, but when I engage the handrake with engine running it locks on again with the dash light fault and bleep bleep sound. Again turning off the ignition and back on without the engine running allows me to release the hand brake? Anyone got any ideas, I assume it has a transmission brake. My vehicle is a 2010 range rover TD 3.6 V8 Automatic.

You have an EPB.
It’s in the rear discs of the rear brakes like a little drum:).

Suggest you check the adjustment before it may jam on, so don’t use it till you have had a look:).
