half shaft worrys!

Ok so I am just preparing for when this happens to me. Currently I do not have any problems (to my knowledge) with my half shafts but you regurely here people criticising landrovers for having weak half shafts. I rescently overhauled the swivals bearings ect, and in this process had the halfshafts out, this made me realise if I snapped a half shaft on the front it would be a ball ache to repair on the fly, as you would have to remove allot of parts cv, stub axle ect. I guess they snap more often on the rear, where I guess also its easier to swap or remove along with prop to maintain drive untill a repair can be done, but is their a way to maintain drive ie get home if you snap a front half shaft?
I guess if they snap and you need to continue to drive you have to remove the offending halfshaft and remove the prop, lock cd and drive to destination?

They don't snap unless you go off roading and abuse it.
If you do break some thing, diff lock and drive home at moderate speed.
Over sized tyres and to much right foot when off roading is the reason for breakages.
