Just signed up after finding the site whilst searching for a solution to an immobiliser problem on my P38. I need to ask a question but know it is poor form to jump straight in with a "help" message so thought I would introduce myself first.
My name is Nick and I live just south of Aberdeen. I have a large! collection of classics ranging from Pre-War Rolls Royces via an AC Cobra to a large collection of Saabs (I also own the forum www.uksaabs.co.uk). I have owned Solihull products for over 30 years, and have owned several examples of all models, series 1, 2 and 3, 90 V8, 110 TDi, Disco 1, 2 & 3 and many classic Rangies.

I live a mile from the road so need a 4x4 in the winter plus do a fair amount of towing. Over the years I have tried most Japanese and American alternatives, but keep coming back to Solihull. My favourite all rounder was a 110 TDi but when I owned my own classic car garage, I found I was towing up and down the country most weekends so it had to go for something more comfortable, and the first Disco arrived. The Disco 1 TDi was great but the body rotted away, so was replaced with a Disco 2 TD5. That was better but the chassis rotted away! That was replaced with a Disco 3 TDV6 but I am afraid we did not get on. It was an early HSE and was heavy on fuel, epensive to maintain and when I discovered rot in the chassis at less than 10 years old, it went. I strayed for a while and the last 18 months I have run a V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it was not a Landy.

I recently acquired a P38 with the BMW diesel and shortly afterwards the guy I bought my Jeep from wanted it back so it went. I now have a problem with the P38 hence joining here. Once it is sorted, I think it is time for another 110.

Anyway, just thought I would say hello before going off to the Range Rover section to ask for help!

Nick
