Hello
Just joined after buying an M Reg, 300tdi, D90 (in the fastest colour, Windjammer Blue).
It's the second LR i've owned, previously I had a 1982 S3 (also WJ Blue) which was a complete nail (bless her), the BMC/Taxi engine was about as clapped out as it gets and the gearbox went after only a few months. This time round i've been a bit more realistic with my aspirations to be a one man mechanical engineer/bodyshop and bought a good example of a well looked after Defender 90 from Trek-Overland.
Not to say i've had a few problems in the months i've owned her (him ?). A knocking turned out to be loose rear suspension mounts - loose being an understatement. One bolt was missing, the other hanging on by less than a thread and the remaining 4 looser than a loose thing in a loose place ....
The vibration (which initially I put down to the uber-chunky tyres) turned out to be a buggered UJ and when 'she' failed to start half way back from a trip to Orkney for Hogmanay (yes she's a 'she' ie bloody temperamental) I wasn't best pleased (neither was the GF as she was the one pushing her around the Fort William, Morrisons car park
Turned out to be a broken chassis/gearbox earth strap - wish i'd known that before I bought a starter motor
Anyway, new now she has a new UJ, new starter, earth strap and 6 x 12.9HS bolts holding the rear suspension on she's as good as ... as good as ... as good as, well as good a 1995 D90 should be (hopefully)
