Evening,

Found a very nice, very clean 110 XS that im going to see on Friday, apart from the usual Defender related issues is there anything else I should be keeping an eye out for on a 110? Anything in particular it being an XS as well?

I'm assuming it has TC & ABS, I have no experience with either, anything to check?

Sorry for what seem like mundane questions im just going a bloody long way to see it!

Thanks
Josh.

Lucky sod, some might say ;)

I am indeed! Spending a little extra as its going to be one to keep for the foreseeable future, so the little extras will go a long way!

Forgot to mention its a 2004 TD5.

You've already got a TD5 so you know what to look for presumably. It's late enough to have the later head design, dash console etc. so it'll be one of the better ones. As its 12 years old that's enough time for rust to be a problem, so have a good look underneath, get the mats up and have a look at the condition of the footwells and loadbearing parts of the bulkhead. One thing I forgot to do when I bought mine was have a look in the ECU box under the driver's seat and therefore didn't see some rather bodgy wiring from the technicians at Abertawe power station where it used to live. So that's worth a look.

Yeah thought about those points. Pretty clued up on the TD5 90, just wondering if there where any specific rust points that would be on a 110 and not on a 90 for example. Just want to go with every bit of information I possibly can, even taking my Nanocom to check any faultcodes!

Quite lucky really as I was going to view a decent looking 110 CSW in Bradford, did a past MOT check on it, failed the MOT on excessive chassis corrosion at the rear xmember and rear legs. Made me very suspect as the MOT was Thursday where it failed, then Friday it had passed... I highly doubt that work plus the rest that was listed could have been done in 24hours. Especially since it wasnt mentioned!

Not that im aware of, did a check, came back clean. 3 owners and been serviced/MOT'd at the garage that currently has it for sale for the past 5/6 years. Got history for the remaining years as well. 99% sure its legit.

Here it is -

Cheers! Took a while to find, 6 months in fact.

o_O:D I havnt yet! Though high level security is number two on the list (got a few things in mind). Luckily I live in a very secure area so im safer than most. To start with will just be the usual precautions.

Those metal pickup covers are really noisy, I find. It's OK if you're a farmer I suppose and want more robust coverage for livestock, dogs and bales of hay. A canvas top or tonneau cover is much quieter.

Bloody hell. Didnt notice any of that when I was looking at it! I just generally dont like it, going to replace it with one of those Ali folding covers, makes it like a 'proper' boot.
