well heres another problem to add to my list of things on my p38
the last couple of days ive got back from work and noticed a noise coming from my gearbox, only when its in park or neutral
its sounds like a clanging noise, almost as if something is hitting on something
its not constant and disappears when you rev the engine
put it in drive and the noise just disappears right away

Flex plate cracked is one possibility.

+1 when you put it in drive the slack is taken up by the TQ this the noise isn't so Prominent.
It will get worse cheapest option is to get a decent indi garage to pop a camera inside the inspection hole , cheaper than having the box off to have a look

just been googling this problem and it does seem to point to the flex plate
so i need to mull over my options
how much and where can you get the flex plate from?
is it a big job to remove and replace?

Just took off the small inspection plate and found some broken metals bits
as soon as i csn get the pics if my phone ill put them up
but it does look like the flex plate

They either crack or rip right off losing total drive can't see why you would have bits unless it has sheared off.
