fuel tank

hi everyone
new kid on the block, i have 03 freelander gas 51k mls, after putting fuel in the tank it refuse to start, after a while somebody came and tap on the fuel tank and it starts, he said its the fuel pump or filter, where is the fuel filter and pump? are they both inside the tank? anybody could help?

Early models had a pump in the tank as well as one under the bonnet so, yeah, sounds like a pump problem.

Later models (not sure what year) had the pump by the offside rear wheel and no pump in the tank or under the bonnet.
