Hi all really need help here. I am trying to get my series 3 going, my main problem is I'm trying to work my way through Mr botch it's work. Does anyone know where the wire from the fuel shut off valve on the side of the zenith 361 carb is supposed to go. Is it a 12v positive feed or where does it connect. It was just hanging behind the dizzy. There are spare terminals on the live side of the coil. This seem to be the only place it will reach I can see. If i pour fuel down the carb it starts but on its own there is no fuel getting to it.

It looks like only late Series III landies had that solonoid. There are no wiring diagrams for this in my Haynes manual, but I'd imagine you're right in thinking it should be wired to the coil 12v supply. Mind you don't break it: Craddock charge £78 for them!

Right as if thats not enough I have another problem. No fuel  Took the feed pipe off the side of the carb and got the wife to turn the engine over, Nothing  Pumped the hand prime lever on the side of the pump and just got a load of puffing and slurping, no fuel. The inspection bowl is full but it's not making it up the pipe to the carb, sound like a fuel pump to you????? Think I'll burn the feker......

if its slurping it sounds more like its drawing air, check fuel bowl rubber, where the glass meets the top if not remove and strip the pump, could be a dirty valve,
thr solinoid on the carb should have a 12v ing controld feed, this can come from the coil
