Fuel pump td5 Disco

Hi,

I have recently dicovered my Fuel Pressure Regulator was leaking. It has been replaced and now the fuel pump has died.

Is this normal?
Did it create the FPR leak by making to much pressure at the pump?
How soon will this happen again?

The vehicle is an 03 auto with 50 k on it.
