Hi guys

We've had problems with our Discovery since last wednesday when the fuel return pipe from the fuel filter came off spraying diesel all up the back of the Discovery,After we sorted this out it seemed to run fine until thursday gone when it started leaking again this time from the main feed from the fuel pump. In march it had a new fuel regulator and im not sure what is causing the fuel pipes to keep coming off

Can anyone shed any light????

Interesting- I have an 03 as well and I have a leaking return low pressure line (black) on top of the in tank pump. It fills the well on top of the tank then it spills down the tank and onto the floor and the back window as I drive. I too have had new pumps, FPRs and the like and am wondering wether or not there is a seal missing or worn by all the in and outing.

I have changed the black clip and this has made no difference. I am begining to think 03 was a bad year for td5 discos and fuel problems.

Your leak is definetely from the filter by the back wheel? You could try a jubilee clip or cut an inch of the pipe and refit.

There is a little filter in the union at the back of the filter nearest the outside try taking this out altogether,it is there to bleed air out of the system. When you get leakage from the injector washers it cannot handle the pressures involved, probably a good idea to replace injector washers, but you have to be very careful to get a good seal.

Yeah thats what happened last Wednesday whenthe return pipe came loose i thought that was the end of it, obviously not as its coming from the main feed ( fuel pump now ) :(

Have you checked that the pipes haven't rubbed through as they run from the tank to the filter? It is a very common failure.

I've checked and all is well the pipes were replaced about six weeks ago, this seems to be a pressure problem i still haven't got round to checking the small filter in the union will do that tomorrow and i'll let you know the outcomes of it however i think we're gonna take it to a 4X4 specialist and hook it up to a diagnostic machine if i can't find anything

Right guys

took it to two different garages both diagnostic machines showed nothing, this seems to becoming more frustrating now as for the small filter in the union that is on the old TDI engines NOT the TD5 according to the guy at the garage, the guy did say either the blockage has cleared or there may be a valve sticking somewhere within the system, so far its been running ok but for how long
