Does anyone have the Fuel Burning Heater timer fitted to their TD4 freelander? The reason for asking, I have the FBH in my TD4, I have got one of the timer controllers but I cannot seem to get my hands on the wiring to connect it all together.

Just wondering if any of you helpful chaps who have the timer fitted as well would be able to give me a hand to work out the wiring.

I know the wiring at the FBH end, its just i know that there are two relays on the Landrover wiring.

Can anyone help?

I think it is the sort of useful information that other people may be interested in aswell.
 
Thanks for the link but that is the timer unit that i already have. What I am after if the wiring required to allow the timer unit to turn on the interior fans and the FBH. This wiring is available in Landrover accessory JEY500010. I would buy the kit but the cheapest i can find it that have it in stock is something like £300 inc VAT. Seems a little pricey to me.
 
About 4 years ago, when I bought mine,

- I looked at the remote switch for the TBH so I could blip it from the kitchen :rolleyes:

The kit included that silencer and cost a whopping £1400 from the dealer.

Needless to say, I go out and warm it up a bit earlier :D
 
Hi, I have a copy of Rave but I would prefer to know the correct connections etc as the cabling is for running the fans aswell. Dont want to mess things up.

Does anyone have a timer in their freelander for the fbh?
 
Chaser - Yes have checked my mail, thanks for that. I had already found that article before and had looked through the diagrams but not absolutely sure about how he has done it. I would prefer to know how landrover intended for it to be done. Thanks again
 
ive been meaning to do mine for a while, but still havent done it !

sod paying landrover prices, you can get all the timer modules, remote fobs and relays off ebay for less than £60, just need some electrical knowledge to wire it all in. shouldnt be a problem being a sparky :D

i will install mine when i get a chance.

Hi all first post been following the site for some time,
Back on topic, I recently fitted a remote for my FBH cost with some bits and pieces from maplins all in the grand total of £40 all you have to do is get + and - to the remote kit, and attach the sender wire to the FBH you'll have to Google it I can't remember what colour the wire was Or its relevant pin no its just an activation wire so dosent carry any load etc.
Make sure you fuse it etc and a led set up in the dash is handy to show when its on.
Putting it on 15 mins before I leave means the car is 3/4 of the way up to operating temp.
I'm in chester if anyone needs a hand to fit one.

But the proper kit turns on the heater blower as well so you have the car de-iced and warm cabin to get into on a cold morning as well as the option of heat when your parked without the need to run the engine.
 
Agree with you Chaser but my way at least gives the process a massive headstart
And saves some time and is a lot cheaper.
Plus the matrix in the cab may not have air passing over it but it is at least full of warm water ready to go as the FBH has its own water pump.
 
This is the bit that I am interested in. Getting the fans running aswell. The wiring should be easy enough. I just want to get it right. Dont want to damage anything.

Looking at pictures of the supplied wiring in the FBH timer instructions, it looks like there is 1 relay and 2 blade fuses. It is the connection of the fuses and relay I need to find out.

It would be good to find out this info and then we could put the wiring out there for other freelander owners who dont realise the full potential of the FBH.

There is a relay and associated wiring in the pictorial instructions, isn't that what you want?
 
Hi chaser. Yes the wiring in the instructions is exactly what I am after. Have actually made some progress with working out the wiring myself today. I need to order some parts and get hold of a connector for the timer. Trying to find one of those on eBay.
