Time has come to say 'au revoir'... He's sat on the drive ever since
the MoT and really needs someone to put him to use. Reality is, it
won't be me (at least not in the foreseeable future).

So, I'm open to offers. I'd much prefer it to go to someone I 'know',
although ebay will be a last resort I suppose.

It's red (although it's not the best paintjob). Structurally it's
bang on - no advises or faults on the MoT, which is valid til June 06.
The rear crossmember was professionally repaired two years ago -
there's no rot hiding behind the overriders or anywhere else.

V8 is brilliant (and it should be, the amount of time Warren has spent
on it!). The fuel tank was replaced a year or so ago, along with the
filler and the entire fuel system (filters, pump etc etc). It will
pull 70mph without any difficulty.

Tyres are Petlas - maybe two years old but have covered under 1000
miles.

Interior has been stripped and a very basic camper conversion done -
sleeps two. Bulkhead is out, but the interior does need some proper
work to complete the conversion.

Drivers door top is a bit rusty, but not too awful. Passenger side is
new and utterly solid.

Batteries are both newish and in good order. Starter was replaced a
year ago. Starts on the button without fail.

There are two faults I know about - second gear is hard to get on a
downchange, upchanges are fine. I've driven around it since I bought
it three years ago and it isn't a major pain really. The rear step
has been dropped once too often and the ally has split and popped a
few rivets. very fixable.

So - anyone interested? Truck is in South Yorkshire - I can supply
detailed pictures on request. I'd also welcome anyone's thoughts on
what it's actually worth! I know what I've spent....

I'm gutted for you Tim, though I've been through this quandary a few times
myself, a quick trip around the block usually reinstalls any desire to part
company... usually because it's the only vehicle left running... but thats
the Landrover story for you!

Wake up at the back Simon, I've left a message on your mobile phone,
emailed Tim, Tim has called me, I gave him your mobile phone number...

There's only sooo much we can do...

Now, get yer cheque book out - a better motor you'll not find for your
intended use. It has your name on it and I couldn't be happier to see
it go from one good mate to another.

Sad day like when I got rid of my limo,

But I am determined to hang on to my current landie unless I find a better
one. One of the reasons I got a landie compared to any other motor is my
belief that there is nothing that is not fixable on them. Even if it came to
taking the chassis out and replacing it with oak baulks suitable covered in
an oil wash to disguise the fact :)

It must be fate. He's even got a sodding lightweight for sale. Noooo,
must resist The Force....

Simon - I'm just emailing you now.

Sorry to hear you havent got time for it Tim!

It sounds like someone else will get a chance to enjoy it now though -
and they wont have any funny problems with the engine! ;) - See if you
can come to some arrangement whereby the new owner still lets you have
a drive of it every so often to keep you in touch!

Like Lee - I consider selling mine occasionally when i'm trying to use
the drive (which it has a large share of!) - but then I go for a drive
(or even just sit in it for a bit), and I love it all over again!

(I also missed this thread earlier as agent has stuck it in with an
old thread of the same name I think - how do i stop that?)

i've been having similar feelings with my series 3. been buggering up with a
dodgy exhaust for about a month now, so i've been very limitted in when and
how i drive it. evey now and then i think, if i just stuck with the toyota,
none of this would be happening. that thing never ever broke down. but then
i park my arse on the spartan front bench (with factory high-backs) and
fiddle with the gear-stick and i wonder why i ever questioned its worth.

Then the mongrel won't start, and its back to square one!!

Sam.

Yes, slightly dozy, was at "OffroadUK" at Stainby this weekend. Turned out
to be a bit of a flop. Although the organiser quite likes breweries, he
couldn't organise a **** up in one......

Highlight of that show was the mud run. Picture this, a competition to see
how far you can get through it in your vehicle. Lots of modded 90's,
suzi's, patrols and triallers, most with Extreme Trekkers, Jungle Trekkers
or flotation tyres, most with lockers or fiddle brakes. My 200TDi disco off
roader, no axle lockers etc, just Grizzly Claw tyres....... The idea was
for the vehicle that got through the furthest to take the cash pot. Ended
up being narrowed down to an SJ with all the toys, a 200TDi Disco driven by
me, and the same vehicle driven by my wife. Had to do it in reverse gear in
the end to separate the vehicles..... down to me and my wife. The only way
to split it was to run the mud run....... messy.....

Had an argument with 2 sore loser who insisted I had lockers front and
rear.... Just goes to show having all the toys doesn't make that vehicle
better!

Getting busy packing for Malvern, seems never ending with these shows this
year.....

Yeah, too late I reckon (I did note not gettin an invite, too...)
'sides, it's a very, very tidy lightweight, those who were at
Peterborough last year may recall it was the one we were guarding
overnight.
