Frustrating indicator issue

A few months back I changed my old 1987 90 over to LED side lights, indicators and break lights.

After all sort of issues with the old wiring, and making some changes on the dash so I could pop an LED light in there too, I finally got there... Or so I thought.

Yesterday my wife followed me home at night and when I got out of the landy she told me it's annoying that I don't always indicate. I'm a keen indicator kinda guy so this confused me. I turned the ignition and tested all the indicators. All was well.

Then later on, In bed, as it continued to play on my mind, I realised there was one condition I'd never tested... The indicators while the lights are on!

And sure enough, there's a problem. All my indicators are fine with lights off. All my indicators except my back left are fine when I have side lights or greater turned on.

Out of interest, I switched polarity on the back left indicator, and with the lights off, I got what I expected - a dead back left indicator... but when I then turned the lights on, the indicator started blinking! However this way round the indicator relay noticeably slows down and the back left indicator blinks out of sync (on while the others are off and vice versa). The other indicators are unaffected.

What on earth has happened to cause this? Help!

Resolved... It's a grounding issue. All the other lights on that back corner seem happy with it but not the indicator. New ground cable has made it all go away.
