Hi, just a quick question refence adding a front towbar to my vehicle.. Is it be to be centre fixed or offset? Can i just bolt it on to the bumper or do i need a plate behind??? If it's offset, to which side and where-about on the bumper???

Will be used to move trailers and to attach portable winch occasionally...

Many thanks,

Al

Hi Al,

standard bumper will always need a reinforcing plate behind for a tow ball. You can mount it wherever you like. I would think carefully before putting a winch on it, and if you are i would mount it centrally to prevent twisting of the bumper and/or chassis.

Have you looked into getting one ofthe HD military versions? they have a centre tow pin as standard. or do you need the ball?

this thing. should find it cheap 2nd hand.

back to the mounting, our drillers mount theirs on the drivers side as this helps them line rigs up and moving them around. just a thought.

Thanks for replying... the winch is just a modified super winch that sits on a plate that connects to a tow ball, its only ever used for ripping out tree roots or something, and normally attach it round another tree! I will also need the ball to hitch up the trailers that i will be moving, to be honest most trailers i could probably push around with a couple of guys! If i mount it properly with a plate behind; do i fix it in line with the chassis rail?

Many thanks,
Aln
