over here in nzed rated shackles are only used for winch points self recovery.
Recovery toe points. which we have to use are 10000lb rated toe hooks and have to be bolted to the chassis .

Ok....
after a lot of thinking I've found a way of getting recovery points...

I'll just buy one of these...

Cant be bothered to fart around with welding and thinking if will be strong or not.
So I'll just buy another steering guard... this time with recovery eyes and jack points..

The one above is from Rebel 4x4 website... anyone have experience with them?
are these guards any good?

cheers
JP

Mine's very, very similar, but with holes where the name is, all-welded construction, a b'stard to fit, but well worth it. Got mine from ebay £23 a couple of years ago ... ;)

My only concern with recovery points on the steering guard is that if your front is pointing down and stuck in mud for instance (not that uncommon from what I see!) it will be a right pain to hook up because the recovery point is quite low down?

... which is even worse if you only have Jate rings on, or nothing at all ... ;)

Thing is, they're an emergency item, they're not used all the time, so when they do need to be used a bit of effort to use them isn't much of a problem, IMHO. If I needed to use them all the time I'd have the points moved or added and maybe use the bumper mounting points and have swivel recovery points welded in with strengtheners and ribs etc ..

Mostly my recovery points are used at Pay 'n plays and I walways drive with the bridle and front rope already hooked up and looped back over the bonnet with a similar setup at the rear!

Green-laning I don't expect to get stuck so don't ... ;)
