Just noticed last night my front bumper has swollen all of a sudden on the top part inbetween the the headlight and grill , I admit that I have been using it as a step for leaning right into the engine bay to do some tasks, now I know the rears have a habit of swelling just under the tailgate in the centre , is this the same for the front bumper??or is it my sheer weight that's done it 15 stone never noticed it before and I'm always looking for faults as you do,if I push the swell its rock hard as if a metal plate has rusted and caused this I can supply a photo if needed thoughts please dse 1999 although there all the same arnt they apart from spot light holes :)

It is a bumper cover not all that strong and there mostly to look nice. 15 stone will bend it just a little. Get yourself a box to stand on. :D:D

True too used to the defender it was good for that but I have stood at both ends and it's only one side bumper seems solid enough to me tho to be honest

If you stood one side of an hard point you may have pushed it down on the end clips, try releasing them and see if it springs back to shape.

Here is a pic

Thats probably "stretched" the plastic and its pushing back against the fixings. I usually stand on the wheels at extended height and/or kneel on the large slam panel area where the stickers are if I have to lean in. Not much you can do really, there's a lot of P38s I noticed have the same, front to stand and do the engine rear to clean the roof!

So you seen this before if I push it its bloody solid I was thinking there is a Metal plate that might of swollen not sure Probably my fat foot

you probably need 15 stones worth of force to move it again! Nah the metal wont cause it to swell overnight, only if there's major corrosion behind the bumper cover might it be that and it would be gradual.

Not possible been in me garden whilst I been tinkering but thanks any ways, think it has a plate and me stepping on it to poke about has caused it, if there is a plate and I stood just too one side of it say it has stamped it's shape , I'm not going to bother either just going to rag the beast from now on bloody money pit but I love it I do

If your front bumper remains swollen for over 8 hours you should contact your GP.
Or make your wife a lucky lady. ;)
