freelander slugish/smoke

freelander slugish/smoke
Hi All,
When I started the freelander td4 over the last few days, the engine revs were very slugish, as if the engine strugled to stay running, this even happens when the engine is warm. I also noticed there is a buff of smoke from the exhaust after i started the engine more so when cold is this nonmal?

I would change the fuel filter and run some 'Millers' through the system.

What colour is the smoke?

check for split turbo pipe etc under lid,i had same probs
