Freelander Kalahari td4 2003

Having a problem with trust old Landy
Fault - daughter used car and engine management light come on and she continued to drive until car gave up the ghost
towed home and mechanic (driver of breakdown vehicle) stated head gasket has gone
No oil in water No water in oil but pressure tested to 15psi and no leak so head appears ok
OBD FAULT TEST - came up with P001 - Fuel volume regulator control - open circuit
and PO 115 Eng coolant temp, ECT sensor malfunction
Engine fault light will reset but comes straight back on and car will not start
Question 1. where is the coolant temp ect sensor located (td4 2003)
question 2 . what is fuel volume regulator control open circuit (regulator control solenoid) and where is it
