Hi guys,

Just bought my 2nd Freelander, a 2014 FL2 S TD4.
I have the standard audio system (not touch screen), which the spec seems to say doesn't have Bluetooth on the S (L359) model.
I see an old post from 2012 that says that the favoured option is fitting the Parrot kit.
Is that still the case?
The radio has all the buttons for operating the phone, but the phone's not finding the car, so I'm assuming there's no Bluetooth module fitted.
I'm wondering if there's any simple way to connect a phone through the sound system like fitting the module?
Seems to be a severe lack of info on the net, so any up to date info would be appreciated, as my car is my office so need to sort something quickly.

Cheers

Do you have the red and green phone buttons on the steering wheel? If so then you have Bluetooth fitted.

You need to tell the car to accept new phone connections via the menus on the audio system screen

Hi,
I have the red & green buttons, but no option in the menu for phone, Bluetooth or anything to do with pairing.
The green and red buttons only scroll up or down radio channels, and don't do anything with the phone.
The "phone" button silences the radio.
When I put the phone in pairing mode, nothing shows at that end either!
The phone works through the speakers & mike when connected via a cable to the aux input, but doesn't give me a phonebook option, and I'd rather not have to plug it in all the time!
The original spec for the "S" model, doesn't list Bluetooth, but with the owners manual giving pairing instructions, the buttons being there & the mike & speakers working via cable, I'm thinking it must be able to be upgraded.
Anyone know where the Bluetooth module should be, so I can check if I have one, or if I have the connections to fit one?

Cheers

Hi Bluesman2008,
Did you get a solution to your problem of not getting your phone to work in your freelander? I have exactly the same problem , I have same buttons on dash.
Could you please let me know the answer to my problem?
Many thanks, williewin53

Hi,
If you have the S model there probably won't be a Bluetooth module.
It would be behind the offside trim in the boot if you have one.
Mine doesn't have one, and I couldn't find anything about retro-fitting one, so I've just made do with connecting my phone by cable via the "Aux" input.
Had a mad idea about fitting a Car Play Radio, which a mate did in his VW transporter, but couldn't find anything about that either & although it appears you can buy one to fit the screen space at the top of the dash, I've no idea if it would work, as I would still be left with the radio/CD player below. I'm thinking it wouldn't be an option as you would need to replace the complete radio to utilise the wiring???
Anyway, couldn't find anything about that option, so shelved it, will probably visit a car audio specialist, or a dealer at some point to find out the options, but none near me so just making do for the moment.

Cheers

Iain

Many thanks Iain for getting back to me.
I started to think that there might not be a module fitted at all, I'll have a look behind the panel today just to confirm.
Cheers
