Hi All.

Out of the blue the car started to randomly judder. It was as if the engine had switched off for a fraction of a second and then restarted. After much investigation the fault was identified as a crankshaft position sensor fault, so i replaced sensor. A few weeks later it happened again, but escalated to the engine cutting out completely but restarting after a few minutes.

A few more days down the line and the engine cut out but wouldn't restart, i left the car a few days while waiting for my mechanic and then tried it yesterday when i got home from work and it just started fine.

Today my mechanic has reset the fault code and it started first time, then when revved for a few minutes it then cuts out and will not restart until he clears the fault, then it restarts and after revving a few minutes will then cut out a not start until fault is cleared, he has said now he thinks it could be the ECU that's faulty.

It also comes up with a fan module fault.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so what how did you fix it please?

My wife uses the car on a daily basis and uses it to walk take the dogs out and go to work so could really do without breaking down in the middle of nowhere!

What is the fault ?

Maybe the sensor is faulty ? God does have a sense of humour, she's like that ...
