Hi i am new to Land Rovers and to this forum but i have a rear window problem that is driving me nuts. I have a 2000 Freelander 1 TDI and the problem is the tailgate window is fully in the up position but the door is open (I must have closed it whith the window fully up somehow). I have tried the reclibration methods but to no avail there seems to be no power to the window via the switch and also the rear screen heater is not working. I have checked all fuses and they are fine and had the battery disconnected and still nothing. This must have occured while the tailgate door was open as I must have closed the door without noticing so it was closed with the glass fully up but the door works fine? I can hear the clicking when I try the switch to open the window but it just will not budge, what i cant understand is how the window managed to go back to the fully up possition with the tailgate door open? does anyone have any idea as I guess a garage is going to be expensive and tell me anything they want as to the cause.

welcome to the forum, you may have more luck with this in freelander section.

however,

I have had this problem too, the trick is to reset the latch on the tailgate with a screwdriver.

have a look at the latch assembly, and you'll see a bit that rotates. use a large phillips screwdriver to rotate this as if it has engaged on the catch mounted on the body. its a 2 stage thing so click then click again.

then use the tailgate handle to open the tailgate and it should all be ok.

Thanks for tha but I got in this morning and tried rear wiper, nothing tried heated rear screen nothing then tried tailgate window and hey presto it worked just as mysteriously as it had stopped working. I am baffled.
