Wish there was something I could do to help. Sister was in a very similar situation a good few years back, thank god she's sorted now, and it must be awkward.

Hope you find a good home for the dog ....

Still think the Landlord is a wrong 'un ....

It's obvious - if the landlord is unwilling to let the dog stay (he can easily have it written into the assured shorthold tenancy) then he is wanting you out! Then, he will bang the rent up. He is in business to make money and this is an easy shout for him. I would move personally, I have three dogs and took them on as pups so owe it to them to look after them, just as I do my children. My advice - **** the LL and move. There is other stuff out there. Sorry, but it is a no brainer.

How is it a no brainer? The guy has said he can't afford to move FULL STOP.

FFS leave the guy alone I'm sure it's a hard enough time for him as it is without these guilt trips.

i can see this is'nt going anywhere. i have made my decision and i am probably going to get slated for it and called all the names under the sun. but at the end of the day its my decision and true other people my be in the position to move and keep there pets/family member with them but in my eye's i hav'nt got that option. at the end of the day all i was trying to do by putting the wanted ad on here was to find a good home for my dog instead of dumpping him out on the street like so many other dogs have had done, so a home has been found and he will soon be rehomed wether certain peeps on here like it or not. so feel free to continue the thread but i won't be commenting on the subject again.

Short Round I know exactly what your going thru I had a lovely Rottweiler That I thought the world of But when I moved from Wales to Kettering the only house we could find and had to move to had a strict no pets rule. We even got stick for having a pet wabbit. And I had to get the rottie rehomed. End of the day family comes first and anyone who suggests differently is a fooking moron..

**** 'em..........Some folk are just plain incapable of imagining what life would be like under different circumstances

what harm can a Lab do. The landlord should feel ashamed of himself putting you in this situation.

We've got a Choccy and would be gutted if we had to let him go.

sad story :(

I just didn't want you to regret it.
I have a rescue dog due to your suitation, and the old owners asked for him back a year later when the rent went up and had to move anyway.
I still have said dog and love him like my own child.

This is not a guilt trip, it's reality.

And believe me I do feel for you :-(

you must be gutted bud :( he lookes like a great dog. times are hard right now youve done right thing many owners would not bother putting the effort in to find a new home thousands are just turned out on streets and end up in rspca kennels . more people should rescue rather than buy from breaders.

As I said earlier, I feel sorry for you buddy. I think you are doing the right thing by doing the best you can for your immediate family and the best you can for the pooch. My daughter recently re-homed (we say rescued) a bonnie wee dog which turned out to be a little gem of an animal, except with young boys up to about late teens. When we were collecting him I did notice the young lass in the house could maul him and hug him to death and he lapped it up, but the young lad jumped down a few stairs, landing so close to the wee dog and screaming at him that we understand why he hates lads.

I had a similar situation a number of years ago, I had a terrific dog who loved people but hated any other animals, she was as obedient as any dog owner could ask for as long as she couldn't see another animal, if she got even the slightest chance (including jumping out a first floor window) she would attack.

In the end I had to have her put down and it broke my heart.

God bless you and your's for making the effort on behalf of the dog but try to accept the fact that people have different opinions, even though some are too stuupid to think how you feel for a few seconds before they open their mouths and sound off.

R.
