Well, it’s happened again, this time from the cylinder head end, last time from the FPR. The diesel slick behind and the diesel stink made me think something may be wrong!! Luckily I was only a road from home and just got into the drive. The power steering gave up from all the diesel on the belt. The alternator has had a thorough diesel-wash.

So, the pipe FPR had unscrewed completely from the head. Why?? As far as I know it has been on there for 21 years and I haven’t disturbed it. I nipped it up and jumpered R1, the fuel pump relay, and there are no leaks. I was wondering how to stop this happening again. As I don’t know why it happened in the first place this is not easy. I was thinking of putting some threadlock on the threads being careful to avoid it mixing with diesel, but any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

I have to agree. I would do exactly as you suggest. Cleaning up the threads both internal and external before whacking on some Loctite.

Very best of luck with it, Mate! :):):)
