fluctuating drive

hi i have a confusing proplem when driving 4.6 p38 the car drives fine with no warning messages but all of a sudden the revs will rise and changes down then the revs will drop back to normal and it will change back up so you get a stop start effect then you can cruise all day at one speed and nothing any ideas

It's normal to introduce yourself and it would be a good idea to put your location as there maybe someone close by who could take a look. What speed does this happen? If it's above 50mph it could be the torque convertor lock up clutch dropping out. Have you checked the auto box oil level lately? The oil and filter should be changed every 24K miles.

hi thanks for that i have now introduced myself i will check the oil but it does this at any speed cheers ian

Oil first check as it could affect all gears if low. If the oil looks/smells burnt, think new gearbox.
