made redundant yet again so 2002 TD4 standing for day's no problem with battery ,usually cell breaking down if battery keep flattening and battery then goes open circuit ,replace it for a higher cranking ampere

> usually cell breaking down
Yup - that sounds like the problem. Unfortunately I don't know what the original battery was, but the new one is a Varta 80 Ah job which looks up to the job.

Freelander2 flat battery problems.

I've just had this problem and after a lot of trips back to the Dealership and many call outs to the Landrover recovery service I found the problem and hope this helps.
The antenna that picks up the keyfob signal, its just inside the main dash facia, also picks up other signals on 2.4 Gz hence telling the BCU to start to awake a few items ready for the main engine ignition. My Freelander2 showed a too high battery drain in my drive but not at the Dealership, eventually a new receiver for the antenna was installed and the drain is now correct. If your battery is draining after a few days and upto a week or so, check the drain with a currant clamp, if you have the services of Landrover recovery, call them out as they are now aware of this happening on Freelander2's and they will verify if this is the problem>
I hope this is of help.

you can't beat the maintained battery's unscrew cell caps measure specific gravity of all cells with hydrometer .100% charged 1.265 ,75% charged 1.239
,50% charged 1.200,25% charged 1.170,Fully discharged 1.110 read should be roughly same on all cells.cell that reads lower than other's dud

I had trouble getting a 75Ah battery for my 2.5 v6 FL as all the shops wanted to sell 60Ah batteries, as per their records. It’s seems they’ve all been told this is ok for FL 1’s. The owners manual (and checked with local dealer) confirm 75Ah is correct for my FL 1 2.5 v6. Make sure you ask for the positive terminal on the correct side too. Sealed for life gel for £90 for 72Ah battery.
The battery LR fit to a V6 doesn't quite fill the battery space which is sized for the bigger TD4 battery. When we replaced our V6 battery we went for theTD4 80Ah battery which fitted perfectly. Exide from Europarts £67.
