flashing lights on dash M S

any one help the M and S lights have started flashing on the dash,i think its some thing to do with the gearbox.The discovery is a 1998 td5 auto
parked it at home on a slope { up hill } lights have gone out.discovery

Happens occasionally. Switching engine off normally sorts it. Box goes into emergency mode and will only select third and reverse. I've read it's caused by low voltage. If it repeats there's a fault code stored which can be checked with the right equipment.
