Batteries good in the FOB?
The LED strangely does not flash every time, however the passive coil that causes the LED to flash can be turned off in the BECM, a dodgy connector under the column covers can also stop the coil working.
Do you get the "Key In Ignition" message when you put the key in.
I would add that if the rolling code is too far out, the FOB will not re-sync using Easy Sync and has to be re-synced using the CDL method.

This is interesting stuff.
I had Passive Immobilisation turned on in the BeCM but never, ever did the coil on the ignition barrel cause any detection of my valid and working fob.
Instead when I inserted the key and tried to turn it I got a binnacle message "Engine Disabled, press remote". Which did indeed remove the immobilisation.

Does anyone have a flow chart of the options/settings and the correct process for those settings?
The only conclusion I can currently draw is that my "coil" that is meant to interact with the fob as the key is placed in the ignition is duff or disabled.

Batteries are good and it flashes when I press the buttons, but will not lock or unlock the car. it just stopped suddenly

Check the connector under the steering column harness, do you get the "Key in Ignition" message, if not check the shutter on the ignition barrel and the associated connector.

Thanks @Datatek , yes the message centre does report that the "key is in the ignition" so if that's triggered off a contact on the shutter on the ignition barrel, that bit must be working at least.
I don't get any fob-flashes or anything else. If passive immobilisation is switched "ON" i just get the disabled - press remote on the message centre.
Time to take the shroud off the column it seems and check for a loose connector.
