Hi Everyone

Just a quick introduction as I am new to this forum and relatively new to Land Rovers.

I own a 1996 3.9 V8 300 series Discovery. I bought her from Brightwells April 2007, and have done about 14000 miles since buying her.

I have not had any real trouble with her, I had a gas conversion fitted straight away which has proved to be great. (I did burn the fuel pump out, though that was my fault for running on vapours).

My mate told me I would always have a spanner in my hand if I bought one, which was kind of my plan, but has not really been the case. I have down a few jobs mainly on the brakes and a few service items but apart from that my hands are relatively clean. I am amazed just how cheap and easily available many of the parts are.

My missus contacted the last owner after we bought it, and they said they only sold it because they were told they had a broken half shaft, this put the willies up me, firstly because I have no idea what an half shaft was and second of all because they were quoted about a grand to get it fixed. I have never experienced any problems which would have suggested the half shaft is broken, but I would not really know.

A little personal info, I live in S Wales and am 34. I intend to keep her until the wheels fall off and believe I have at least another 6 years of happy motoring ahead of me.

Thanks for the interest.

David
