:welcome2:

man shes an old un :p

how much do you mean buy excessive as them old motors do like to smoke for a bit on start up then usually clear near enough after a few seconds/minutes other than that not sure:p

Well, the famous "cold iron plate behind the exhaust test" concluded a liquid substance, clearly see through. didn't taste it.
But where does/should the steam come from? ever since I took it appart the entire car hes been in the garage.

A few places. I'm sure there are more causes, but the 2 main ones that pop into my thoughts are head gasket  and/or water in your fuel.

Well did disconnect the fuel and hooked up to "fresh" diesel from a can, ran for a while, still same smoke, so that would mean no water. leaves the gasket thus?

That's what I would be looking at, although one of the other chaps on here might be able to suggest something else.

If it is the gasket, you'll obviously notice water loss after driving it, and keep your eye on the oil cap and dipstick for any signs of 'mayonnaise', creamy white looking stuff which would indicate that your water has been mixing with your oil in the engine.

Don't lose hope yet, it might still be something simple :)

I wont lose hope, have waited a long time to get my hands on this. 10 quid for a gasket and e few hours wont break me.

Aye that's the way ta do it :D

As I said just keep an eye on it for a while before ya go stripping it down :D:D Good luck with it, hope you get it sorted, she looks lovely -- always wanted a proper 2A like that.

Yeah, looking good. Are those lights in the wings original? Or have they been added? If they were added later I'd be tempted to pull them off and get it looking completely original. Nice Safari roof on her, too.

the previous owner added them. Didn't wanna drive with holes in wings so put them back. don't know what to do yet. fisrt sort things out with engine, easy to replace wings, as they have been of once.;). roof rack needs to be added, but cannot go into garage any more with one, so that will be the last. first a short hollyday after that new rear springs and rack.
