Just bought a new disco (new to me anyway!), it's another 300tdi, this time a 96 model. Brown interior, and Red exterior. Completely standard, will get a few pics up, cos we all love pics on this site.

Anyway, it's got a few little niggles, as normal, and I wondered if the experience of you fellas can help me find out the cause.

1. She goes into difflock and hi/low range lovely, but when in difflock, there's no difflock light on the dash. Not sure if this is something like a fuse or bulb gone, or whether it's because difflock is fecked?

2. Passenger side electric window doesn't work. Again, anyone know what it could be? Will it be easy to find a replacement part from the breakers, and fit it?

3. Dodgy steering. It feels like there's alot more play in the steering than my last one when driving. I'm aware steering box is the usual culprit, but any other common reasons, or way's I can isolate the fault, to find out what it is?

Other than those, she seems pretty robust. Fairly tidy inside for a 96, one dent on the offside, and all the locks work apart from one, but I will change the spring in that one when I have the time. I've only driven her a few miles, but I'm pleased. Will be driving her to the royal welsh winter fair tomorrow so will see how she goes then.
Cheers

Oh one other thing, when the lights are on and the dash illuminates, the clock doesn't work, which is fine, but I can't remember if the heater/ blower controls & icons should be backlit. Anyway, they don't light up, so could it be more bulbs? or a fuse that governs them both?

The temp controls light up they are dim on mine so prob bulb ! Diff lock light could be the switch on box either loose or come off if you search on here you will find comprehensive answers to your faults mate :D
