I'm at my wits end with this thing.

thought the manifold gasket was drawin air in, so i took the old one off, removed the gasket sealent, put the new gasket on, and now it won't turn over.

i thought it was the battery, so got hold of a charger but thats fine, and all the cables seem fine.

It starts to turn over, but seems to get stuck, kinda like the starter won't turn around, haynes manual says try turning the shaft with a spanner to get it loose but we have no idea what it means, hhheeelllppp!!!

What it means is you get a socket and bar on the bottom pulley at the front of the engine and turn it over by hand, easier if you remove plugs/injectors first as it makes turning the crankshaft easier with no compression....

tah but not so sure, it's talkin about somethin on the starter motor:

hang on:

"ensure the starter pinion is not jammed in mesh with the flywheel. check this by turning the square end of the armature shaft with a spanner, this will free the pinion if it is stuck in engagement with the flywheel teeth"

thats the one

put it in 4th gear handbrake off and get your mates to rock it back and forward, if the starter has jammed on the flywheel ring gear this will sort it.

found out the batterys knackered, being the wrong size its killed it trying to start it too much.

put disco battery in (nearest i can get hold of right size) and its turning over, but wont start still, damnnit lol
