My 2005 TD5 110 is running a Dynachip remap.
Previously l had it remapped by Alive and while it went like stink, it smoked like a tramp steamer.
Great clouds of white smoke when you booted it.
l had to sack the Alive remap and l went back to standard tune for a while.
Eventually l called out Dynachip who got it working better, he had to turn down the remap twice to stop it smoking.
lt's alright now, although if you floor it at 1500rpm there's a fair bit of white smoke until the turbo gets going.
I take it others don't have this problem, why do l get white smoke? I take it unburnt diesel is going out of the exhaust.
Most people seem to complain of black smoke after a remap, not white.
Could it be the injectors. Although it's been the same for over 30,000 miles.
The coolant level is stable and the oil level also.
lt's had a new MAF and an EGR delete kit. The engine runs very well and fuel economy is around 28mpg.
lt starts instantly hot or cold and displays no other faults.

Maybe your turbo is tired?
When I rebuilt my engine I put a refurbed turbo on it. I hadn't been focused on the power from the engine, but I'd noticed it was passing a lot of oil in to the IC pipework. The company swapped it and the difference in response from the replacement turbo and the corresponding power increase still has me smiling.
If your pushing inefficiently burnt fuel out the back then surely it's burning inefficiently because of a lack of air. Or, the remap is over fuelling relative to the MAF data. Just my thoughts. :)

Both l think, it's whenever you give it some gas at low RPM or until the turbo spools up.
lt's not got any worse in over 30,000 miles.

It didn't like the Alive remap at all, and l ended up nearly £400 out of pocket. Nobody else has had any problem with Alive remaps, so l assume it's my Defender at fault somewhere.

Could be an injector too I guess... Do you have access to a nanocom to see cylinder balance?

No l don't.
l suspected injectors ages ago, but none of the 3 LR garages round here want to touch it.
They all said things like "the injectors won't re seal" and "l'll end up needing a new head" which has put me off getting it looked at!
