although i am new to this i have found the advice given to be very usefull are there any precautions that anyone knows of to keep the freelander td4 as trouble free as possible that can be posted here:D :D

Watch for smoke out the back.
If it's black, look for splits in the turbo hoses, usual advice seems to be change them all.
If its blue, suspect turbo seals. STOP. If you don't it can suck all the oil out and seize the engine.

Run a decent injector cleaner thru the fuel system.

Periodically remove the injectors - if you have one stuck in there coz of build up around the end - it will be fecckin expensive coz the head has to come off.

what the best injetor cleaner to use.no egr filter hangs downn a pipe at back of the endine its a bit like the old petrol filters

crankcase breather sits on top of the engine just behind the injectors, take both covers off top of engine, and it'll be there, just in front of injectors, about 2/3rds way across engine, under a black plastic cover. New filter comes with a rubber gasket which will help you see the shape of what you're trying to remove. Maybe need to unclip wiring and/or fuel line to one of the injectors to change it, takes about 25 mins 1st time
