Good morning chaps,
I have, well no to be truthful the other half, has a 1995 300TDI with 179K on it. We've had it about 4 years and it's always been ultra reliable. We did a 100 mile trip on Sunday with no problems. On the way home from work on Monday lost all power about a mile from home, after a 15 mile trip. Yesterday after about seven miles lost power again with a large cloud of white smoke from exhaust, this twice more in about three mile trip to the local independant LR dealer. They hada look and listen but the only thing that they could see wrong was a slight leak from the injector spill rail pipes. I bought alength of pipe and changed the leaking one in their yard and left to drive the five miles home. Same problem after about a mile anda half then got home with no further problems. Changed the rest of the spill rail pipes and went out for 10 mile trip no problems out again in afternoon for sevem or eight mile run and then back home also no problems. today left for work after five or six miles same fproblem again, loss of power cloud of smoke, when it is restarted it always feels as if it is pumping fuel through before it fires up. Am I right in thinking that white smoke can indicate water in fuel?
Any suggestions gratefully received
Kind regards to all

Hi Sean
Thanks for your response. I changed the fuel filter about 8,000 miles ago, but I've changed it today and it seems to have solved the problem, There seemed to be an excessive amount of water in the filter when I drained it prior to fitting the new one.
Regards BV
