I own a 1986 110 2.5 N/A diesel.
Thanks to ken livingstone I will have to pay £100 per day to use my landy as I live in london.
I was thinking about putting a rebuilt 2.25 petrol engine in it. Will it mate with my existing gearbox?. Are there any major problems you can think off?.
From what I can see, the 2.5 and the 2.25 are basicaly the same block.
Thanks for your help.

register it as a mini-cab.
it will cost you £75 a year to do that, and you'll have to have it MOT'd every 6 months, but you'll be exempt from the congestion charge!

Apply to DVLA to re-classify it as a PRIVATE AMBULANCE.

No Road Tax, No congestion charge.

Tell them you are a 4x4 private ambulance planning to provide ambulance services at cross-country driving events. Send a photo of a stretcher in the back. They can't refuse you.

You must have "Ambulance" signs on the car, back and front, but is that so difficult to handle?

why would yer want to?

I'm glad you asked that.
Because I was scared to, but want to know the reason ...
The private ambulance tax class is a good wheeze!

Going to go see a Series swb tomorrow. Bound to take it.
2.25 petrol .... but we can soo do something about that.

Ah yes, well, there's the TD5 Disco, the 1969 Lightweight (anyone want it?), the totally rusted chassis Disco 200TDI, now this Series 3.

I mean, it was just needing a home.
It's a 2.25 petrol series 3, 2.25 Petrol, chassis looks fine, don't know anything about it, but is anyone interested in it? All the bits seem to be in the right places. Hardtop, ghastly pale purple shade. We'll find out tomorrow if the wheels turn .... and then take it back here.

Ey Charlsey wot states the lightweight in.

Perfect, but not nesessarily "original".
1969, tax exempt, near new galv chassis, parabolics, CB with two aerials (front and rear), radio, every switch and light you could dream of and then some, two batteries (one on split charge for radios I guess), rear seats, hardtop, needs two door tops (I have two new bare ones here), nato bumpers, towbar and electrics, proper seats, no seat belts quite yet, MoT for a long time, excellent radial tyres, swing away spare wheel carrier, Series 3 servo, the list goes on and on. It isn't perfect, lots of little things need to be done, but it's a great runner, steers and stops well, and it is pretty good over the bumps.

I am about to arrange for it to become a 2.5 NA diesel, and I will fit a Fairey overdrive as I have a spare one just sitting here..

I have no idea why I bought it or what I will do with it. I suppose I bought it because it was there, lonely, and I suppose I could have a lot of fun driving it if I keep it. Question is, do I really NEED it? Or does "need" not come into it when one sees a Landy ready to take away?

PM me for more discussions.
