My friend in Scotland has a 1995 Disco diesel with an auto box and I was wondering how big a job it would be to change the engine in one of these as the block has cracked due to the radiator bursting and losing all the coolant, he wants me to go up there at easter and change it over but he has a sloping drive and a small garage and I think space or lack of it could prove to be difficult.
Would the gearbox have to be removed completely and how heavy is it as I would be on my own as the owner is disabled, any tips or wise words would be helpful as I have not taken an engine out for many years.
