When I changed the heater elements in my seats I gave up trying to re-use the metal clips that hold the covers to the wires in the foam. Used some tiny zip ties but it is still a fiddly job. Glad to see the effort was worth it with your seat conversion. No pain no gain as they say!

thks mate

i used some long nose pliers to separate the copper rings being held onto the cover

then sat there lining them all back up again , then to put them back on , used one of those long reach magnets and again the long nose pliers , hooked them into the black bar , turned them round and squeezed them back on

couldnt get every single one back on, but around 80 percent were put back

swapped both the back and base covers

just thought it would be cheaper , as now the front cloth seats matched the rest of the car

main reason is the cloth seats will hold up better with having dogs , as leather and their claws wouldn't go well together

You should of just cut the rings out and replaced them with cable ties soooooo much easier it what I do when I fix the heated seats on RR done a few now.

good idea ref the cable ties

was worried with them sticking out through the cloth, as the leather being tougher

Nope its not a problem a little cable tie cut back causes no problems

will do that when i do the passenger seat

will order a small pack of cable ties

what size did u use plse

Halfrauds do a big assortment in a tub just decide which will do the job the best think your local is Dartford or the one down here by me on sevenoaks way, a decent pair of wire snips for the rings to from maplins is cheapest if the cue in tool station is to long

good idea ref halfords etc

wonder how much they are on ebay , amazon etc

Its hardly worth eBay to be honest if just want a selection yes there over priced but they have them in, tool station or screw fix mite also have them but halfrauds is just easy

screwfix might be a good one

going to do the passenger one in the spring , it's only me in the car anyway , well apart from the dogs

see the passenger seat is a straight forward swap , no memory module to worry about

not like the wiring nightmare of the drivers seat and having to bypass the memory ecu

bit only gives the 1 x second burst before it cuts the signal power

so complicated , something to do with a signal it doesn't get back , but looking into it , lol

Don't go too cheap on the cable ties - I had some at work once that would snap as you pulled them up tight, or shortly afterwards, so went back to the more expensive but robust ones. You don't want to look over to your passenger and find they're six inches shorter than you remembered...!

know what u mean

some of the chinese imported ones are useless, better to use sellotape

yeh wouldn't be too good if every time a passenger got in they ended up sitting in the floor, lol

fingers crossed should be a lot easier

will leave the sensor in the cushion as i believe that's tied in with the air bag system

found a way of disabling the seat belt bong which drove me nuts everytime i put something on the seat
