Hi All, Has anyone fitted a EGR blanking plate on a p38 and is it worth fitting or not? Cheers.

Just pull the pipe on the actuator and blank it off with a suitable screw. No need for blanking plates. I would clean the ****e out of the EGR valve itself and make sure spring is holding it shut as part of operation though. You won't notice a lot of difference though. Except you won't have to clean it out as often.

I have fitted a blanking kit and it seems better acceleration, to early to find out if the MPG is better. Will let you know.

Blanking it off works just the same I blanked mine and it does run cleaner. And I think better.

Its a lot less hastle without the EGR, no such thing as vale sticking, or having to keep cleaning out.

What's cheaper and easier? Buying a blanking plate and fitting it, buggering about fitting a penny in the pipe, buying a replacement dummy EGR valve and fitting it. Or pulling the bloody vac pipe off the EGR valve. Providing the spring is holding the EGR valve shut i would have thought the latter one. What do you say?

I like to think I did a Proper Job, which only took ten minutes. If I was worried about a few pounds spent on my car I would have bought a morris minor lol.

That will be fine until a working EGR becomes part of the MOT, which is in the pipe line it would seem, then you might struggle a bit. Putting the pipe back on for the MOT would be a lot easier. The EGR is already blocked by the EGR valve until activated. If it can't activate it stays blocked. What is difficult to understand about that?

Think you are getting a bit rude. To much lube may make the inserted item fall out.
