I have a 110 CSW 1997, i know where the earth strap is from -ve battery to body but i dont know where the the engine/gearbox earth strap is usually fixed:confused: any ideas:confused:

it is on the same cable . it goes from the battery then bolts to the chassis via the gearbox mounting bracket bolts and then the end of the cable goes to the transfer box bolt . hope this helps .

Hmm.

What happens if it comes loose somehow?
Battery dead or strange electrical things start happening?

I only appear to have a cable from battery to transfer box:eek: it does not appear to be earthed to the chassis!
This would explain the lights dimming when i release the hand brake as the system is earthing down through the handbrake!

So to remedy this i need to run a cable from the transfer box to the chassis aswell?
Is this right?

i would run another cable from the battery to the chassis along with the existing cable for the best earth . also clean all paint , rust down to bare metal before you attach the cable . also i had a handbrake cable melt due to this prob so dont let yours get damaged fix it soon

I had a few earth issues a while back. Originally i only had an earth strap from the neg battery terminal to the transfer box. So i renewed this one, then earthed the engine to the chassis and also earthed the body to the transfer box (I just attached a lead to one of the bolts holding the centre seat frame in place which was directly above). Since then ive been fine, it might be a little overkill but ive had no earthing problems whatsoever :)
