Driving without A frame?

As above, can you drive a Disco without the A frame "fulcrum" attached?
I have just put new bushes and ball joint on but i am struggling to get it all back on to the car.A friend has a 4 poster that i can use but he is about 10 miles away from me.
Would it be safe to drive it to his garage?

Cheers for the reply craigyb,i did kind of answer my own question when i got back under the truck.
Massive amount of strain on the doughnut on the rear prop without A frame on!.
I was struggling getting the ball joint to drop back in, but thanks to a brilliant thread by bustersbus,i have jacked up the nose of the diff and it has dropped back in!.
Just got to tighten everything back up now.
Have to say it was an absolute pig of a job to do.
