Hello everyone, I'm new to the whole landrover scene and have invested in a 90 300tdi, I'm not too bad with a spanner and replaced quite a few bits already so it was running sweet. I've now gained a rather loud squeeling noise when the engine and turbo is under load and getting warm, my first port of call was to replace the 3 hoses between the turbo and intercooler which has made no difference other than slightly change the pitch of noise. Would appreciate any advice or information if any of you guys have had a similar issue, thanks Ben

Serpentine belt, it's adjuster bearing, waterpump bearing, alternator bearing can all make squeeling noises ...

It doesn't make the noise when building revs up when stationary only when traveling and under load an appears mid rev range

... so is the belt slipping under load? If so it could be tensioner bearing, or the alternator bearing gone bad, or the waterpump bearing etc putting more load on the belt, overcoming any friction between the belt and pulleys.

Mind, I guess the turbo could be foobar'd too ... mine gave out a lot of white smoke when it went ... I've also had a wheel bearing go dry and squeal when running over 40.

You give so little diagnostic information it's hard to say for certain what it is, hence starting with the 'easy' checks ... Take the belt off and try to wobble the pulleys, if any move, in any direction other than rotational, then that might be it, but still check any others. It's not unknown for one to induce wobbling and breakdown in others.
