Good afternoon all.
Newbie here after some advice please.

02 Plate L332. Was on way home from work yesterday when something went bang. Almost like I had run over something.
Sounded horrible, metal on metal. Vibrating wen braking. Very loud.
Got the car on my driveway and noticed the cv boot hanging off. N/S/F with all the grease dripping out. (Hoping I’ve uploaded pic correctly). Lol.
Even on tick over the car just doesn’t sound right. I can’t get to look at it till tomorrow and was just wondering if any one could give me any advice. Thanks in advance.

I think you need to see if the drive shaft has snapped, I suspect not looking at the position of that CV boot. Have a look and see what condition it's in.

That’s the plan for tomorrow morning mate. start stripping and see what I find. Just hope it’s nothing catastrophic cos it didn’t sound good. Lol. Thanks.

Update. I think something took the drive shaft out. I’m going to try and post a video and pic. But the shaft that goes from gearbox to transfer box is hitting the anti roll bar when spinning.

So there must be an engine or gearbox mount that has failed. I can't think of anything else that would allow the prop to drop like that.
Yeah but can’t see anything obvious. To be honest it felt like the engine mounting came away lol. It sounded catastrophic so off to the garage in week.
