Hello people, I'm having a bit of a nightmare with my freelander at the mo, any help would greatly be appreciated. The drivers doors keeps opening...well not actually opening, but the light on the dash & the interior light comes on. I really have to slam the door hard to get rid of it, but it will come back on intermittently. This causes the alarm to sound & hack the neighbours off, I darn not even lock the car at night. I thought it was a faulty switch, the switch is built in to the latch so I changed to whole latch unit at a cost of about £70. It didn't solved the problem, I've also adjusted the door strike plate to be as far in as possible, still no joy. I can't think what else it can be, please help!

Silly question but how do you know its the drivers door? I have a 3 door hard back and it only has 1 light on dash to show doors and tailgate, well I think it does;).
Have you a 5 door? If so what year? Have you looked at Rave manual for wiring diagram? If I remember correctly drivers door has 7 wires and passenger as 5. As you said each door latch has a switch built in, it sounds like you have a dodgy connection somewhere. You could try and look at the other door latches and see if they have corroded connectors. Just looked at diagram (was fixing my central locking today) and it appears that there is a multi pin connector other than the one at the latch. Just looked and there are 2 multiplugs each front door, they are in the A post (footwell towards the outside of the car) under the carpet. You might find a dodgy wire there?

As a very last resort you could scotch lock the door latch switch wires together. Yes I know its a bad idea but if that solves it then you know you have a problem with the latches and not the alarm ecu.

Good luck and let us know what you find out?
