Door open message

back again for more help with my rangy.

For the last couple of months, i have been getting the occasional "R/H DOOR NOT CLOSED" (or something along those lines) message on the dash. If i slam the door a couple of times, the message disappears and all is OK. The message is now becoming more frequent and slamming the door is not having the same effect,(i.e. the message stays on) The fault does seem to be temperature related, as it is usually there on hot days when the car has been parked in the sun. No matter how hard i slam the door the message stays on, but after driving when the car has cooled i am able to close the door and the message is gone.

I pulled the door trim panel off and had a hunt around, in the hope of finding the switch/sensor that is activated by opening and closing the door, but i can't seem to figure it out.

Can anybody throw any light on where i might find the switch, or have any ideas what may be causing the problem?

Never had one apart so don't really know but i think the micro switch is within the lock unit. You would have to take that out to find it.

I was also told there is a "door open" microswitch inside the latch. I have the same problem which only appears during summer and when the door gets hot because of the sun. I suspect some tolerance problem or maybe humidity/wiring problems.
